This is a quick reference list with an explanation for terms and abbreviations used in our documentation.

Term

Explanation

Alias Accounts

It is a Dock product. It is an individual payment account, which has a bank number, branch number and bank account number. It connects the payment accounts (3680) to the banking world (2025). They are considered bank accounts.

Account Management

This is a team that works as a bridge between the Dock o and customers. The Account Management team has Account Owners (AO's), who are responsible for developing a partnership with customers and working for their success.

API

API is the acronym for Application Programming Interface. It is a connection that works like a virtual waiter, running back and forth between applications, databases and devices to deliver data and to create connectivity. APIs enable financial institutions to connect businesses and consumers, to transfer information securely and conveniently, and to boost the scope of products and services.

Auzituck

It is a Dock product. It is our platform for back-office management. It works as a front-end to extract information from Customers Database, based on Caradhras APIs.

AWS

It is the acronym for Amazon Web Services. It is a cloud platform that provides customers with various cloud services, such as: database storage, content delivery and other functionalities.

BACEN

BACEN is the acronym for "Banco Central do Brasil", i.e. the Central Bank of Brazil.

BIN

It is the acronym for Bank Identification Number. It is the initial set of 4 to 6 numbers that appear on a payment card. It identifies the institution that issued the card.

Caradhras

It is the Dock API platform to support developers and contains the technical specifications of the products, including HTTP status codes. This name was inspired by "The Lord of the Rings", J. R. R. Tolkien's epic high fantasy novel and it was chosen due to the strong cultural stack cultivated by our teams.

CX

It stands for Customer Experience. It is the customer's overall experience with a company. The objective of the CX team is to make the client succeed, with the least possible effort and with the best emotion attached.

DICT

It is a Pix service and it stands for "Diretório de Identificadores de Contas Transacionais", i.e. a Directory of Transaction Accounts Identifiers. It stores the customer banking identification keys (such as CNPJ, CPF, email, phone number), which will be necessary for the customer registration at BACEN. It generates the EVP.

Embossing

It is the process of stamping characters to a plastic card. Card embossing companies are in charge of the production of plastic cards, including their physical inventory and security.

EVP

It is a Pix service and it stands for "Endereço Virtual de Pagamento", which means Payment Virtual Address. The EVP is a 32-character alphanumeric sequence generated by DICT to identify the payee. Instead of informing the CPF, phone or email, the payee may inform only the EVP to execute a Pix transfer. The benefit is that the EVP replaces the payee's personal data and reduces their exposure. EVP is generated by DICT.

HML

It is the abbreviation for "homologação" (Portuguese). It is used to refer to environments. For example, the HLM Environment refers to a staging (test) environment, which means the environment for testing and acceptance of an application.

Hub

It is a Dock customer that uses our solutions to re-sell their products. These customers function as a hub between the Dock and other companies.

IF

It stands for "Instituição Financeira", i.e. financial institution.

IP

It stands for "Instituição de Pagamento", i.e. payment institution.

Issuer

It is the institution that issues cards for the payment accounts. It can be a payment institution, a financial institution, a bank. The Dock, as a payment institution, is the Issuer of the cards for the prepaid payment accounts and uses Visa, as a card scheme.

KPI

It is the acronym for Key Performance Indicator. It provides measures to evaluate the results of a specific activity.

Ledger

It is the platform for the storage of accounts data. It is responsible for registering events as a reliable source of our financial and transactions data. It is split by account type, segregated by customer, with their assets and balances. At this moment, our current ledger is the Pier.

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)

It is an electronic access method with two or more authentication steps in order to implement more layers of security. It includes the 2FA, i.e. two-factor authentication.

Ongoing

It is the production operation of Partners/Customers at the Dock. It starts after the Onboarding and Setup are both completed and customers start using our services.

Outage

It is the total or partial interruption of a technology service.

P2P

It stands for Peer-to-Peer (or Person-to-Person). It is a type of transfer. It enables transfers digitally between accounts within the same Issuer. In this case, it enables online quick transfers within the Dock. accounts.

Pix

The Instant Payment Arrangement (Pix) is a payment feature regulated by the Central Bank of Brazil (BACEN) and developed to process transactions within seconds at any day and time (including weekends and holidays), at a low cost to the payer.

PIF

It stands for Program Information Form. It is a step of the customer onboarding process for customers and it is required by Visa. To get the approval, the customer needs to inform the scope of their business model, how products will be offered, how cards will be used, details on customer segmentation (individuals, companies, premium clients, etc.).

PLD

It is a Dock. product. It stands for "Proteção à Lavagem de Dinheiro". It means prevention for money laundering (AML, Anti-Money Laundering).

Postman

It is an application for testing and interacting with HTTP APIs. It presents you with a friendly GUI for constructing requests and reading responses.

PRD

It is the abbreviation for "production" (Portuguese). It is used to refer to environments. For example, the PRD Environment refers to a production environment, which means the current ongoing environment where applications and transactions occur.

PSP

It stands for Payment Service Provider. This acronym is also used in Portuguese and it stands for "Provedor de Serviços de Pagamento". The PSP offers merchants access to digital payments in e-commerce, using credit cards, digital wallets, and others.

Query

It is a command to execute actions in a database.

Rail

It is the network or platform that facilitates digital payment transactions. The rail indicates if it is a credit or debit card.

SPD

It is a Dock product. It stands for "Sistema de Proteção Dock", which means Dock Protection Service. It creates restrictions in the end-user onboarding (individuals or companies) to prevent registration errors and fraud. It triggers a lock on the account in case of: an incomplete registration, court order or suspected fraud.

Setup

It is the step for platform configuration and testing. It occurs after the contract agreement (signature) and before the platform starts in production (ongoing).

SMB

It stands for Small and Medium Business.

Production Token

The credentials of a Dock. customer to access the Caradhras API platform.

UX

It stands for User Experience. It is the process of creating solutions for a better customer experience, usually focused on digital products. UX is part of the CX's efforts.

Zendesk

It is a platform used at the Dock. for customer service support where tickets are registered and monitored for resolution control.
