Dock's mission is to provide technology and innovation, in line with the digital transformation in the financial services revolution in Brazil.

Dock is a B2B company delivering white-label solutions through modular products using an API (Application Programming Interfaces) platform for companies that want to have their own digital bank.

👍

Main Roles

Dock plays the following roles towards its Partners / Clients:

  • It is a Payment Institution (IP) regulated by BACEN and an electronic currency issuer;
  • It is a licensed Card Issuer;
  • It is a leading Provider of Technology, with modular and scalable solutions.

📘

And how does it work?

  • As a Payment Institution, Dock provides prepaid payment accounts through which various transaction types are executed (payments, transfers, withdrawals etc.);
  • As a licensed Card Issuer, Dock takes care of the issuance and management of the prepaid cards for the above-mentioned payment accounts;
  • Dock uses its leading technological structure to connect the multiple parts of a business to the financial environment. This will enable Dock Partners / Clients to offer their end-users the most diverse banking services, transforming companies into banks or enabling them to offer the most diverse range of financial transactions.

Below we describe the way Dock relates with Partners / Clients. They are reference structures for partnership and contracting Dock. Other variations may also be applied.

BaaS Model (Banking as a Service)

In this model, Dock transforms your company into a bank.

  • Dock will play the regulatory role with BACEN as a Payment Institution (IP). Dock will provide the prepaid payment accounts and the respective operational processes for managing and controlling the transactions.

    • Through Cash-In services, money can be received in the payment accounts by means of bank transfers, payment slips (boletos), Pix, receivables settlement, among other recharge models.
    • Through Cash-Out services, money can be used. A Cash-Out can be a purchase or a withdrawal using the card, which can be physical or virtual.
  • Dock will play the role of Card Issuer with the Card Scheme. Dock will issue the cards (using its own BIN sequence) and will be responsible for the operational processes for managing and controlling the transactions.

This BaaS Model will be supported by:

  • Dock Core Technology - A Banking Engine, that is, a high-tech "core banking" mechanism that provides, for example, treasury management and the most diverse forms of Cash-In and Cash-Out on payment accounts among other services;
  • Dock Compliance - An option in the prevention of risks to monitor Compliance rules. For example: KYC (Know Your Customer), AML (Anti-Money Laundering), Monitoring and Fraud Prevention Strategy.

📘

Responsibilities in the BaaS Model

Dock is responsible for the entire process. Dock will play:

  • The Regulatory Role for BACEN - as a licensed institution,
  • The role as licensed Card Issuer for the Card Scheme,
  • The role as the Technology Provider and
  • The role for Compliance actions.

The following services can be added:

  • Marketplace - More than 35 products: payment of bills, bank transfers (TED, DOC, Pix), issuing and settlement of payment slips (boletos), mobile phone recharge, vouchers for GooglePlay, iFood, UberEats, Spotify etc.
  • Auzituck - A front-end for automation of operational tasks
  • Station - A BI (business intelligence) tool for extracting management information
  • Interest-Bearing Account - A payment account with daily earnings
  • Alias Bank - An individual payment account (which has a bank number, branch number and bank account number).

Companies using this BaaS model are called Dock Partners, because the Dock assumes a partnership, being responsible for most of the functions of this relationship.

FaaS Model (Fintech as a Service)

In this model Dock is fundamentally a banking technology service provider.
On the other hand, the Dock Client takes responsibility for all other roles:

  • The Dock Client will play the Regulatory Role with BACEN (it can be an IP/Payment Institution or an IF/Financial Institution or any other format). Dock will support the Dock Client in managing regulatory matters.
  • The Dock Client will play the role of Card Issuer with the Card Scheme and will issue the cards. Dock will support the Dock Client in the operational processes of managing the transactions.

Dock will be responsible for the technology with:

  • Dock Core Technology - A Banking Engine, i.e. a high-tech "core banking" engine that offers, for example, cash management and the most diverse forms of Cash-In and Cash-Out on payment accounts among other services.

📘

Responsibilities in the FaaS Model

Dock will be responsible for the Technology, as the main provider. On the other hand, the Dock Client will be responsible for:

  • The Regulatory Role with BACEN as a licensed institution;
  • The role as a licensed Card Issuer with the Card Scheme, and
  • The role for Compliance actions.

  • Auzituck - A front-end for automating operational tasks
  • Station - A BI (business intelligence) tool for extracting management information
  • Interest Bearing Account - A payment account with daily earnings

Companies using the FaaS model are called Dock Clients. This model has been used by companies that need banking technology to leverage their business.

Marketplace

In this model, the Marketplace services are delivered on a stand-alone basis and the objective is to meet the specific needs of a company.

The Marketplace is a comprehensive package of financial services available via APIs, such as: payment of bills, bank transfers, payment slips for recharge or collection, mobile phone recharge, Bilhete Único recharge (SPTrans), Google Play, iFood, Blizzard, Uber Eats, Spotify, and others.

This is a simple way of contracting specific services. Usually, companies using this model already have control over the management of their payment accounts. Dock enables the use of these Marketplace services through a prepaid payment account, called "Bolsão", from which all transaction values made by the account holders/end-users will be debited.

📘

Implementation

The Marketplace model can take one of three (3) formats:

  • Associated with the BaaS model
  • Associated with the FaaS model
  • Implemented as stand-alone, independent and outside the BaaS or FaaS model.

Additional Service

External Authorization

This service cannot be implemented stand-alone, that is, it must be contracted through a BaaS model or a FaaS model.

In this service, the Dock Partner / Client wants to have final authorization of their end-user transactions. Although Dock pre-approves all transactions, the Dock Partner / Client will be able to add specific business rules to the process to be the final approver of all transactions.

  • Dock CARADHRAS Broker is the technology solution that will receive these business rules and will allow the Dock Partner / Client to have the final approval (external approval, outside Dock) of the transactions.
  • The Dock Partner / Client will be responsible for the Cash-In Mechanisms of the prepaid payment accounts.

Concept

The above-mentioned Dock Solutions have a structure that allows various combinations. The objective is to meet the needs of various company profiles, regardless of their size or line of business, reaffirming Dock's concept of being modular and scalable.
